Tai Sin Electric Limited is the largest cable and wire manufacturers in Singapore's industrial landscape, renowned for their expertise in cable and wire manufacturing. Tai Sin requested for a real-time analytics dashboard which will aid them in performing their inventory planning management.
💡 Prior to the project, the company does not have any algorithm or dashboard to perform inventory planning, and thus were left to rely on employee gut feeling and past working experience. Our goal was to solve this challenging task by creating an automated inventory planning tool.
To address our client's needs, we developed a Power BI dashboard while regularly consulting with Tai Sin's IT department to ensure our end product meets their expectations. After 14 weeks of development, we delivered the Power BI dashboard and the project concluded on April 2024, with Tai Sin visiting our showcase booth in SUTD.

Developing the Power BI Dashboard
To address Tai Sin's needs, we developed a Power BI dashboard with two sections. The first section provides the team with information regarding the reorder amount, current stock levels, necessary materials for reordering, and other pertinent cable information. This tool empowers the team to prioritise restocking of cables effectively, even under various constraints.
The second section delivers a forecast of future order quantities, allowing Tai Sin to have a clear understanding on the anticipated cable demand, which facilitates proactive planning and inventory management practices.
Overall, this project underscores the efficacy of data-driven decision making. Through the implementation of the Power BI dashboard and planning algorithm we have developed, Tai Sin can eliminate guesswork from its inventory planning management. This enables the company to lessen its dependence on the historical experience of senior production personnel. Consequently, the dashboard will enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout inventory planning.
